Iyabo Obasanjo Bello Defects to PDP for Ogun State

Iyabo Obasanjo Bello, a former Ogun Central Senator and daughter of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, announced her defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the People's Democratic Party (PDP). She stated that her decision was motivated by compassion for the people of Ogun State and a desire to provide better service.

During a visit to members of the Liberty Group at Obasanjo Hilltop in Abeokuta, she expressed her commitment to humanitarian service and pledged to unite various support groups under the PDP platform. Obasanjo Bello criticized the APC for no longer aligning with the vision of the people in Ogun Central, leading to her departure.

She resigned from the APC on May 31, alleging persistent disrespect and unfair treatment from the party's leadership. The Liberty Group, which endorsed her, highlighted her achievements during her tenure as a senator from 2007 to 2011.

They also pledged their support for the PDP's governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, in the upcoming elections.
