Iyabo Obasanjo Bello Named PDP Senatorial Candidate

Iyabo Obasanjo Bello has been officially announced as the senatorial candidate for Ogun Central by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in preparation for the 2027 elections. The announcement took place during a formal event at the PDP secretariat in Abeokuta, where Ogun State PDP Chairman Dr.

Abayomi Tella presented her with the party flag. Iyabo Obasanjo, the daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, previously resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) citing disrespect and unfair treatment from the party leadership.

She expressed her commitment to the PDP's ideals and pledged loyalty to its manifesto. Iyabo Obasanjo, who has a political background as a former lawmaker, emphasized her qualifications for the senatorial role and her dedication to serving the people of Ogun State.

She had initially joined the APC in respect of President Bola Tinubu but felt sidelined during the party's internal processes, leading to her decision to return to the PDP.
