Legal Conflicts Delay Oyo Accord Governorship Suit

On Monday, Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court in Ibadan adjourned a suit related to the governorship candidate selection and leadership crisis within the Accord Party (AP) in Oyo State until September 30. The adjournment was necessitated by conflicts in legal representation, as multiple lawyers appeared on behalf of the party.

Olakunle Busari, represented by his counsel Tunji Ogunrinde, SAN, filed suit number FHC/IB/CS/97/26, requesting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat's name from its portal and replace it with his as the legitimate governorship candidate for the 2027 general election. Ogunrinde stated that the court could not proceed due to conflicting legal representations and directed the parties to resolve these issues before the next hearing.

Dairo Olayinka, the party's secretary, expressed surprise at the appearance of another lawyer claiming to represent the party, while Mogaji Igbinsola Sunday, the South West leader of the party, described the situation as a delay tactic.
