Busari Sues Hamzat Over Accord Party Governorship Ticket

Hon. Olakunle Busari, a governorship aspirant of the Accord Party for the 2027 general election in Oyo State, has initiated legal action against Mr.

Oriyomi Hamzat, seeking to invalidate Hamzat's claim to the party's governorship ticket. The suit, designated as No.

FHC/IB/CS/97/26, was filed in the Federal High Court in Ibadan and represented by counsel Tunji Ogunrinde, SAN. Busari alleges that Hamzat's name was improperly uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal by a faction of the Accord Party leadership.

He contends that Hamzat did not participate in the direct primary held on May 26, 2026, where Busari claims to have received the highest number of votes. The suit requests that the court compel INEC to recognize Busari as the legitimate candidate and seeks a perpetual injunction against INEC from acknowledging Hamzat's nomination.

Additionally, Busari aims to prevent Hamzat from presenting himself as the authentic candidate of the Accord Party.
