Iyabo Obasanjo Advocates Fairness in Ogun APC Power Shift

Iyabo Obasanjo, a former governorship aspirant and representative of Ogun Central Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011, has called for fairness in the power shift within the Ogun State chapter of the APC. In a statement made on Thursday, she emphasized the necessity of adopting a consensus arrangement for the party's governorship candidacy, which she believes should consider the sacrifices of party members.

Obasanjo has been actively consulting ahead of the party's governorship primaries and advocates for a consensus strategy to reduce tension and prevent internal divisions, which she sees as crucial for electoral success in 2027. She congratulated Solomon Adeola, the party's consensus governorship candidate, during a caucus meeting held on April 13, 2026, in Abeokuta.

Despite her support for Adeola, she noted that the consensus approach should not exclude other aspirants, including Tunde Lemo, and stressed the importance of recognizing contributions from all candidates to promote unity within the party.
