Edo Deputy Speaker Vows to Complete Power Project Despite Vandalism

Osamwonyi Atu, expressed concern over the persistent vandalism that has delayed a power project in his constituency, which includes Abudu and Orhionmwon East. This project has faced setbacks for 15 years due to the destruction of critical infrastructure.

Atu, who has been in office for less than three years, urged constituents to remain patient as efforts are underway to complete the project by the end of his tenure. He accused opposition elements of attempting to disrupt the project and highlighted his administration's achievements, including the construction and renovation of schools, boreholes, solar lights, and community halls.

Additionally, he awarded 100 scholarships to beneficiaries, including those attending the University of Benin. The project, managed by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) under Engr.

Henri Dafe, began in 2025 but has faced significant setbacks due to vandalism, including damage to copper wires and galvanised pipes.
