Long BRT Queues Resurface in Ikorodu, Lagos

Onyinyechi Nwachukwu, a 23-year-old content creator known online as Darkskin Ella, lamented the resurgence of long queues at the BRT terminal in Ikorodu, Lagos. In a video shared on social media, she documented a large crowd waiting for buses early on a Monday morning, questioning the availability of buses despite prior assurances from the Lagos State Government.

Nwachukwu arrived at the terminal at 6 AM but found herself stranded without transportation. She highlighted the challenges faced by commuters in Lagos through her ongoing project titled "100 Days BRT Challenge," aiming to document daily commuting realities.

During her filming, she alleged harassment from a staff member who attempted to seize her phone, claiming she was violating privacy laws. Lamata's head of corporate communications, Kolawole Ojelabi, responded to the complaints, explaining that bus availability can fluctuate and that the agency is working to expand its fleet to reduce wait times.

He dismissed claims of buses being diverted for private events as untrue.
