Almajiri Commission Defends 2026 Budget Constituency Projects

The National Commission for Almajiri School Children’s Education, represented by Executive Secretary Nura Muhammad, clarified that the controversial budget items included in the 2026 Appropriation Act are constituency projects assigned to the commission. This clarification follows public debate regarding the agency's statutory mandate and the appropriateness of certain projects.

The commission emphasized that all projects are part of their legal obligations and will be executed in compliance with financial regulations. They aim to reform the almajiri education system and improve access to quality education for vulnerable children.

The commission has successfully identified and profiled 700,000 school children nationwide and established 119 learning centers. They continue to advocate for community mobilization and support from stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, led by Dr.

Tunji Maruf Alausa and Prof. Suwaiba Sa'id Ahmad.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian child has access to quality educational opportunities.
