Education Commission Clarifies 2026 Budget Projects

The Education Commission, represented by Nura Muhammad, issued a statement addressing the controversial projects included in the 2026 budget. The commission reaffirmed its legal responsibility to implement these projects according to existing laws, financial regulations, and procurement procedures.

It emphasized its core mandate remains unchanged, focusing on reforming the almajiri education system to tackle challenges faced by school children across Nigeria. The commission highlighted its achievements, including the identification and profiling of 700,000 school children and the establishment of 119 learning centers nationwide.

Ongoing community mobilization efforts are in place to support the implementation of national policies regarding almajiri education. The commission reiterated its commitment to improving access to quality education for almajiri school children, which remains a top priority, and pledged to continue collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to expand educational opportunities for vulnerable children across the country.
