Almajiri Commission Clarifies 2026 Budget Controversy

The Almajiri Commission issued a clarification regarding controversial items in the 2026 budget, stating that these are constituency projects assigned to them by the National Assembly. Nura Muhammad, the spokesperson for the Commission, explained that the inclusion of these projects does not alter their legal mandate, which focuses on reforming and addressing the educational challenges faced by almajiri school children across Nigeria.

The Commission has identified and profiled 700,000 school children nationwide and established 119 learning centers. They are committed to expanding access to quality education and strengthening support for almajiri education.
