Almajiri Commission Clarifies Non-Mandate Projects Status

The Almajiri Commission issued a statement clarifying that non-mandate projects fall under the category of National Assembly constituency projects. Nura Muhammad, the Executive Secretary, noted that all projects assigned to the commission will be executed in strict compliance with existing financial regulations and procurement processes.

The commission's 2026 budget includes projects aimed at improving the education of almajiri school children, which remains its statutory mandate. The commission has made significant progress, including profiling 700,000 school children nationwide and establishing 119 learning centers.

It has also conducted community mobilization efforts to fully implement national policies addressing the challenges faced by almajiri school children. The commission will continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Education, led by Dr.

Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa'id Ahmad, to expand access to quality education for vulnerable children.
