Oyo ADC Governorship Slot Dispute: Alagbe vs Adegoke

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State is embroiled in a crisis as Dr Gbemileke Alagbe and Taofeeq Adegoke contest the party's governorship ticket for the 2027 election. Alagbe claims he won the governorship primary held on May 22, 2026, which was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies, asserting he has the certificate of return to validate his victory.

Conversely, Adegoke argues that his name is listed on the INEC portal as the party's governorship candidate, suggesting that this should resolve the dispute. He has attempted to reach out to Alagbe for reconciliation and has expressed a willingness to support Alagbe's senatorial ambitions.

Alagbe, however, insists that any challenges to his victory should be pursued legally rather than through media disputes. Both candidates acknowledge that the ongoing division could jeopardize the ADC's prospects in the upcoming election and have called for reconciliation among party members.
