Tyla's Lagos Concert Canceled Amid Boycott Calls

South African pop sensation Tyla's scheduled concert in Lagos, part of her APOP World Tour, has been removed from the public itinerary following significant backlash and calls for a boycott. The announcement of the tour was made on Monday via her Instagram page, coinciding with the release of her sophomore album, A*POP, on July 23.

The tour was set to include key stops in Africa, notably in Joburg, Cape Town, and Lagos on December 22. However, the decision to remove the Lagos concert has sparked heated discussions on social media, with many arguing that the concert should not proceed while Nigerians face xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Supporters of the boycott claim it is a show of solidarity for affected Nigerians, while others argue that Tyla should not be held accountable for the actions of criminals or broader political issues. Tyla has gained recognition, winning the inaugural Grammy for Best African Music Performance for "Water" in 2024 and again for "Push 2 Start" this year.
