COOU Honors Dr. Uzoamaka Aguoji for Igbo Culture Advocacy

The Centre for Igbo Language and Culture at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam, honored Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Uzoamaka Josephine Aguoji with an award for her significant contributions to humanity, education, and the promotion of Igbo language and culture in Nigeria and the diaspora. The award was presented during the Centre's inaugural Cultural Day Festival, which celebrated Igbo heritage and attracted scholars, traditional rulers, and cultural enthusiasts.

Professor Christiana Ngozi Ikegwuonu, the Centre's Director, emphasized the importance of the Centre in preserving Igbo culture and urged support from individuals and organizations. She highlighted the need for parents to teach their children the Igbo language and values, noting the impact of migration and urbanization on language retention.

Pastor Ikechukwu Ekunno accepted the award on behalf of Dr. Aguoji, advocating for the documentation of Igbo language and traditions.

The recognition of Dr. Aguoji is seen as a tribute to her decades-long commitment to educational excellence and cultural advocacy.
