Chief Peter Nnaji Installed as Onowu in Idu-Koro, FCT

On Sunday, Chief Peter Nnaji was installed as the Onowu in Idu-Koro, Federal Capital Territory, marking a significant event for the Ndigbo community. This installation followed the new guidelines set by Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, which dictate that Igbo traditional rulers outside Igboland are to be referred to as Onyendu, meaning "leader." The ceremony was conducted by Chief Jude Davison Igwe, the Onyendu Ndigbo in Idu-Koro.

Chief Nnaji, hailing from Akpugo Nkanu in Enugu State, will serve as the second-in-command. The process was approved by community stakeholders, ensuring adherence to tradition while adapting to the diaspora's realities.

Chief Nnaji committed to upholding the ethics of his office and promoting peace and cultural heritage in Idu-Koro and the FCT. The event featured cultural displays, including masquerades and traditional dances, and was attended by various community members who expressed the importance of practicing their culture even while away from home.
