COREN Implements Stronger Engineering Compliance Measures

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) convened its 190th Ordinary Council Meeting on 9th July 2026 at its headquarters in Abuja, where it approved stronger compliance and enforcement measures aimed at enhancing engineering regulation. The council registered 2001 engineering practitioners, including 1410 Engineers, 227 Engineering Technologists, 15 Engineering Technicians, 334 Engineering Craftsmen, and 15 Expatriate Practitioners, as well as 33 engineering firms across various practices.

COREN also accredited Sato Engineering Services Limited, EtinPower Limited, and CeeSolar Energy Limited under the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Certification Scheme in collaboration with the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP). To combat engineering failures, COREN approved strategies for regulatory intervention, a competency development program for Engineering Regulation Inspection Officers, and a nationwide compliance audit of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Additionally, COREN directed the automation of registration processes for engineering artisans and Skills Training Centres.
