New Platform Launched to Enhance Nigeria's Peace Initiatives

On Wednesday, in Abuja, the Nigeria PeaceWork (NPW) platform was unveiled to support Nigeria's peace initiatives. Dr.

Timiper Allison, Executive Director of Corn West Africa, highlighted the platform's role in addressing violence documentation and enhancing peace efforts. The NPW aims to create a sophisticated system for documenting violent incidents, which often go unrecorded, and to build a comparative system for documenting peace initiatives.

This initiative seeks to strengthen relationships among stakeholders and improve coordination to reduce duplication of efforts. Georg Biesman, Project Officer for the Nigeria Peace Actor Initiative, noted that the platform represents a shift in the discourse surrounding conflict violence, aiming to spotlight peacebuilding activities.

The NPW employs a hybrid model combining automated data collection with user contributions, allowing peace actors to share lessons and best practices. The unveiling was attended by representatives from the European Union, the diplomatic corps, and various peace actors.
