Stakeholders Push for National Peacebuilding Framework in Nigeria

On Thursday, stakeholders in Nigeria called for the establishment of a national framework to systematically track and document peacebuilding initiatives across the country. This appeal was made during the launch of the Nigeria Peace Web, a digital platform designed to document peace action initiatives.

Timprey Allison, the Executive Director of the Conflict Research Network West Africa, highlighted the need for a comprehensive system to improve visibility and coordination among policymakers, researchers, donors, and civil society actors involved in promoting peace. Despite ongoing efforts, there is currently no national system to systematically document peacebuilding activities, which creates gaps in evidence-based policymaking.

The absence of such a framework has resulted in structural imbalances in the evidence base that informs peace and security policies. The Nigeria Peace Web aims to address these gaps by aggregating structured data on peace-related events and initiatives, thereby enhancing collaboration and reducing duplication of efforts among civil society organizations.
