Nigeria's Commitment to Global Road Safety at UN Meeting

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to global road safety by appointing Shehu Mohammed, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), to lead the Nigerian delegation at the United Nations High Level Meeting on Improving Global Road Safety. This meeting took place at the United Nations General Assembly Headquarters in New York, United States.

During the plenary session, themed “Scaling Up and Accelerating Implementation of Commitments to Halving Road Traffic Deaths and Injuries by 2030,” Mohammed presented Nigeria's national statement. He emphasized the federal government's dedication to enhancing road safety governance through political will, strategic investments, and international partnerships, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Mohammed also highlighted Nigeria's advancements in road safety, including reforms within the FRSC, technology-driven enforcement systems, improved emergency responses, and public awareness campaigns. He noted Nigeria's leadership role in Africa, particularly through the launch of the Nigeria Road Assessment Programme (NigeriaRAP) in collaboration with iRAP.
