Nigeria Reaffirms Road Safety Commitment at UN Meeting

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) represented Nigeria at a high-level UN road safety meeting, emphasizing the nation's commitment to halving road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030 as part of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety. During the plenary session, Corp Marshal Shehu Moham presented Nigeria's national statement, outlining the government's dedication to strengthening road safety through sustainable political commitment, strategic investments, and innovative partnerships.

Nigeria's progress in advancing the global road safety agenda was noted, including the recent launch of the Nigeria Road Assessment Programme (NiRAP) in collaboration with the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP). The country aims to improve road infrastructure safety and enhance public awareness programs.

The meeting also served as a platform for Nigeria to reaffirm its role in hosting the secretariat of the African Association of Road Safety Lead Agencies (AARSLA) and to call for greater international cooperation in road safety initiatives.
