FRSC Aims to Halve Road Fatalities by 2030 in Nigeria

The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) expressed optimism about reducing road fatalities by half by 2030, following the Presidential Initiative on compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric vehicles (EV). He acknowledged President Bola Tinubu for allowing him to represent Nigeria at the United Nations Summit on Global Road Safety.

The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 on green energy, promoting a healthier environment through motorized transport systems that encourage pedestrian and cyclist use. The initiative has attracted significant investments, leading to the establishment of manufacturing assemblies for electric and CNG vehicles, as well as CNG cylinder production and conversion technology.

The Corps Marshal emphasized that road safety is a collective responsibility, urging government, citizens, and community leaders to engage in public education and sensitization efforts. He mentioned ongoing projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway as part of the strategy to achieve a safe and efficient transport system for all Nigerians by 2030.
