MDCN Urges New Doctors to Uphold Professionalism

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has emphasized the importance of professionalism and integrity to newly inducted medical graduates from Gombe State University during the sixth attestation ceremony and third annual Prof. Idris Mohammed Lecture. The Registrar, Professor Fatima Kyari, represented by Assistant Registrar Dr. Ali Mandaka, warned that graduates must complete their mandatory housemanship within two years of provisional registration or face an assessment examination.

Kyari described the induction as the start of lifelong professional responsibility and urged graduates to treat patients with dignity and compassion, highlighting the necessity of teamwork among healthcare professionals. Professor Ismail Jibrin, Chairman of the National Emergency Medical Treatment Committee, encouraged the new doctors to approach their profession with humility and responsibility.

Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, Professor Abubakar Difa, congratulated the 45 graduates and noted that the college has produced 230 medical doctors since its first graduation in 2019.
