Court Adjourns Shinkafi's Challenge of APC Primary Results

The Federal High Court in Gusau has adjourned the suit filed by All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant Abdullahi Shinkafi, which challenges the outcome of the party’s Zamfara North Senatorial District primary election. The new date for the adoption of final written addresses is set for July 28.

Justice Hassan Dikko made this ruling on Tuesday after reviewing affidavits, counter-affidavits, and preliminary objections from the involved parties. Shinkafi contests the results of the primary held on May 19, which declared incumbent senator Sahabi Ya’u as the APC candidate for the 2027 general election.

He claims the primary was conducted with irregularities and violated the Electoral Act 2022, INEC guidelines, and APC electoral procedures. Counsel Bello Galadi expressed satisfaction with the adjournment, while the third defendant's counsel, J.C.

Shaka, sought a cost of N2 million against Shinkafi for alleged late filing of a counter-affidavit, a request that Justice Dikko declined.
