ISWAP Leader Convicted on Terrorism Charges as DSS Steps Up Prosecutions

The Abuja Federal High Court has convicted Ismaila, a leader of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), on terrorism charges after an eight-year trial. The Department of State Services (DSS) is actively prosecuting terrorism cases, including Khalid al Barnawi's alleged involvement in the 2011 bombing in Abuja.

Two international wanted suspects, Mahmud Muhammad Usman and Musa Abubakar, are set to face trial. The DSS has also arrested and is prosecuting other suspects linked to deadly attacks in Plateau State and Owo.

The convictions and ongoing prosecutions highlight the government's efforts to combat terrorism in Nigeria.
