ISWAP Leader Gets 20-Year Jail Term for Terror Attacks in Kano State

The Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Hussaini Ismaila, a leader of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), to 20 years in prison for orchestrating multiple terror attacks in Kano State. Ismaila pleaded guilty to four terrorism-related charges, including attacks on police facilities.

The judgment was delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite, who found Ismaila guilty and sentenced him to 15 years for some counts and 20 years for others, to run concurrently. Ismaila's remorse and plea change were noted during the trial, with his lawyer requesting leniency.

The court also ordered his rehabilitation and deradicalization.
