Court Convicts Three Internet Fraudsters Arrested During OOPL Hotel Raid

Three internet fraudsters, Isaac Akinwale, Ibrahim Azeez Olatunji, and Habeeb Oladipupo Oshundairo, were convicted by a Federal High Court in Lagos after pleading guilty to various offenses. They were among 93 suspected fraudsters arrested at a hotel within the premises of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library.

Akinwale was sentenced to three months in prison and fined N1 million for running an online celebrity scam, while Azeez and Olatunji received one-month sentences and fines for romance scams. Oshundairo was sentenced to 30 days of community service for impersonation and retaining criminal proceeds.

Another defendant, Onunoye Fawas Olamilekan, challenged the validity of his charges but was ordered to be remanded in custody pending trial. The court proceedings highlighted the seriousness of cybercrimes and the penalties offenders face under the law.
