Court to Rule on ADC Leadership Suit on June 16

On June 3, 2023, Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja listened to arguments regarding a suit challenging the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark. The case was adjourned to June 16 for a ruling on whether to withdraw the suit.

The suit was brought by former Deputy Chairman of the ADC, Hon. Nafiu Bala Gomb, who claims the leadership was improperly elected last year.

The ADC has opposed the hearing, and the matter has been previously escalated to the Supreme Court. Justice Lifu was recently assigned to the case after it was transferred from Justice Emeka Nwite, who had adjourned the matter indefinitely following a request from the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho.

Gomb's lawyer, Mr. Robert Emukpero SAN, urged the court to dismiss the motion due to a lack of evidence against the ADC leadership.

The court is set to rule on the matter on June 16.
