El-Rufai Granted ₦200 Million Bail in Corruption Case

On Tuesday, a Federal High Court in Kaduna granted former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai bail in the amount of ₦200 million in a corruption case filed against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The presiding judge, Rilwanu Aikawa, stipulated that El-Rufai must remain in the custody of the ICPC until all bail conditions are fully met.

These conditions include the provision of two sureties, one of whom must be a traditional ruler and the other a civil servant not below grade level 15, as well as a deposit of his international passport. El-Rufai's son, Bello El-Rufai, confirmed the bail grant, while his counsel, Ubong Akpan, declined to comment on the ruling.

The case against El-Rufai was initially set for arraignment on March 18, 2026, alongside Amadu Sule, but the charges against Sule were later amended, leaving El-Rufai as the sole defendant.
