El-Rufai Granted N200m Bail, Remains in ICPC Custody

On Tuesday, a Federal High Court in Kaduna granted former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai bail amounting to N200 million, with strict conditions imposed by Justice Rilwanu Aikawa. Despite the bail approval, El-Rufai will remain in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) until he fulfills the bail conditions.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for April 1, 2026. The bail conditions include providing two sureties, one of whom must be a civil servant not below grade level 15, and the deposit of his passport with the court.

El-Rufai faces charges related to alleged corruption and abuse of office, alongside Amadu Sule, though the latter's case has been dropped. His legal counsel, Ubong Akpan, expressed optimism about the proceedings, while El-Rufai's son, Bello, confirmed the bail development.

The case has been adjourned multiple times, with the next ruling on the bail application set for April 21, 2026.
