Court Adjourns El-Rufai's Bail Hearing Until Tuesday

The Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the hearing of a bail application filed by former Governor Malam El-Rufai until Tuesday. El-Rufai is facing 10 counts of charges related to financial misappropriation and money laundering, as outlined in a report by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).

His counsel, Ubong Akpan, disclosed this development to journalists shortly after court proceedings commenced. The charges against El-Rufai have been amended, leading to the removal of co-defendants in the case.

The court proceedings occur amid rising tensions within the opposition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which insists on proceeding with a national convention despite warnings from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against holding such exercises. El-Rufai arrived at the court premises around 9 AM, briefly chatting with loyalists before walking towards the courtroom alongside his legal team, dressed in white with an ash-colored cap.
