El Rufai Granted N100m Bail in National Security Case

On Monday, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El Rufai bail in the amount of N100 million concerning charges of alleged national security breach brought by the Department of State Services (DSS). Justice Joyce Abdulmalik delivered the ruling on the bail application, imposing stringent conditions that must be met for El Rufai's release.

These conditions include the provision of sureties, one of whom must be a senior civil servant not below grade level 17, and the deposit of a valid international passport with the court. El Rufai is also required to report to the DSS headquarters every last Friday of the month and submit a letter from the chairman of the Kaduna State Traditional Council.

The court's decision follows a previous bail refusal by Justice Dariu Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court on April 21, 2026, related to allegations of interference with investigations by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
