Court Grants Ozekhome N10M Bail Over Forgery Charges

On a recent court ruling, lawyer Mike Ozekhome was granted bail in the sum of N10 million following allegations of forgery, which included the use of forged documents such as an international passport and an irrevocable power of attorney to unlawfully claim property in London. The charges were filed by the Federal Government through the Office of the Attorney General.

Ozekhome, who appeared in court alongside late Jeremiah Useni's counsel, pleaded not guilty to the twelve-count criminal charges. The prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, did not oppose the bail application, which was moved by Tayo Oyetibo, SAN.

Justice Chizoba Oji admitted Ozekhome to bail on the condition that he provides sureties who own property within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and deposits his international passport with the court. The judge ordered Ozekhome to return to court on Monday to fulfill the bail conditions, failing which he would be remanded in prison.
