Court Stops ADC National Convention Amid Leadership Dispute

On Tuesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to halt its plans for a national convention, deepening the party's leadership crisis. Justice Joyc Abdulmalik issued the order in response to a suit filed by seven aggrieved members of the party, who are acting on behalf of state chairmen and executive committee members.

The plaintiffs include Don Norman, Obinna Johnni, Tovi Derek, Obah Ehigi, Olona Yinka, Dr. Charl Idowu Omideji, Samuel Pan Gyang, and Obianyo Patrick.

The court directed that the party maintain the status quo pending the hearing of the case, which is scheduled for April 23. The defendants in the case include notable figures such as Senator David Mark and Senator Patrick Akwashiki, among others.

Additionally, the court has ordered that legal processes be served to the defendants within 24 hours. This ruling comes amid ongoing leadership disputes within the ADC, further complicated by rival factions.
