Court Upholds Conviction of Ex-Army General Mohammed

The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction of former Army General Mohammed on October 10, 2023, for offenses involving the theft and misappropriation of funds belonging to the Nigerian Army Properties Limited. The court dismissed Mohammed's appeal, which challenged the jurisdiction of the special court martial that initially tried him.

The three-member panel, comprising Justices Abba Mohammed, Okon Abang, and Eberechi Nyesom Wike, found sufficient evidence presented during the court martial to establish the offenses. The court noted inconsistencies in Mohammed's defense and upheld the special court martial's decision, which included a prison sentence and a refund of 2,099,700,000 naira.

Additionally, Justice Dehind Dipeolu of the Federal High Court ordered the final forfeiture of shares valued at 5 billion naira acquired through unlawful activities during Mohammed's tenure, following an application by the EFCC.
