Court Orders CAC to Reinstate NYCN Registration and Sukubo

On October 6, 2025, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled that the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) must restore the registration of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and reinstate Ambassador Sukubo as a member of its Board of Trustees. The court found that the CAC lacked the statutory power to determine the tenure of leadership within the organization.

The CAC had previously withdrawn NYCN's certificate of registration on October 28, 2020, leading to the appointment of a nine-member interim management committee led by Buhari Shehu on October 7, 2025. Justice Nyako declared the creation of this interim committee null and void, stating that the CAC exceeded its authority.

The court ordered the immediate restoration of NYCN's certificate and recognized Ambassador Sukubo as the legitimate trustee, dissolving the interim management committee established by the CAC.
