Court Orders Forfeiture of $13M Linked to Aisha Achimugu

On Wednesday, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled for the final forfeiture of $13 million linked to Ocean Engineering Oil and Gas Ltd, associated with Aisha Achimugu. The court determined that the company failed to prove the legitimacy of the funds, which were classified as proceeds of fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The judgment followed a suit initiated by the EFCC, which argued that the funds were acquired through unlawful activities. Justice Nwite noted that no individual had provided a monetary gift to Achimugu amounting to $13 million and emphasized that the burden of proving genuine ownership of the funds was not met.

The EFCC had previously secured an interim order for the forfeiture of the funds on August 22, 2025, based on credible intelligence regarding the company's operations. The court directed the EFCC to publish the order in national dailies, allowing interested parties to show cause within 14 days why the funds should not be permanently forfeited to the federal government.
