Court Orders Final Forfeiture of ₦3.44bn Linked to Ex-NNPC Official

On Tuesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice J.O. Abdulmalik, ordered the final forfeiture of ₦3.44 billion linked to Salihu Jamari, a former official of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed the application for forfeiture, which included properties such as an incomplete six-bedroom semi-detached duplex in Asokoro, Abuja, and a two-bedroom flat in Ikoyi, Lagos. The court's decision followed an earlier interim forfeiture order granted on February 25, 2026.

The EFCC informed the court that no applications were filed by any individuals or entities contesting the interim forfeiture. Justice Abdulmalik upheld the EFCC's application, stating it was meritorious, as the funds and properties were linked to an alleged scheme involving conspiracy, kickbacks, bribery, and money laundering.

Jamari is accused of abusing his position as managing director of a power investment company and influencing private firms to receive kickbacks from contractors awarded major projects.
