Court Orders Final Forfeiture of N400m Linked to AVM

On March 17, 2026, Justice Emeka Nwite granted a final forfeiture order for N400 million linked to Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Abdulraheem Mikail Babatunde, following a motion filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The court's decision was based on the suspicion that the funds were proceeds of unlawful activities.

The EFCC's motion, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/2710/2025, was filed on February 2 and sought relief on five grounds related to advance fee fraud and other offenses under the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act of 2006. An interim order for the forfeiture of the funds had previously been made on December 31, 2025.

The funds were linked to transactions involving Cosgrove Investment Limited and were suspected to be used for purchasing luxurious properties. The EFCC's investigation revealed that Abdulraheem managed companies involved in these transactions, raising concerns about the legitimacy of the funds.
