Court Orders Forfeiture of ₦3.44 Billion Linked to Ex-NNPC Official

On Tuesday, the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice J.O. Abdulmalik, ordered the final forfeiture of ₦3.44 billion and three properties linked to Jamari, a former managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

This order followed a motion filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on March 17, 2026. The properties include an incomplete six-bedroom semi-detached duplex in Asokoro, Abuja, and a two-bedroom flat in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The EFCC's investigation, triggered by a petition dated April 28, 2025, revealed that Jamari allegedly used his position to secure illicit benefits through kickbacks from contractors awarded major projects by the NNPC. Justice Abdulmalik noted that the EFCC provided sufficient grounds to justify the forfeiture, which follows an interim forfeiture order granted on February 25, 2026, allowing interested parties to show cause against the permanent forfeiture.
