EFCC Seeks Final Forfeiture of 57 Properties Linked to Malami

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a motion in the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking the final forfeiture of 57 properties allegedly linked to former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. The motion, presented by a legal team led by Jibrin Okutepa and Ekel Iheanacho, argues that sufficient material has not been shown to justify setting aside an earlier interim forfeiture order granted on January 8, 2026.

The EFCC's application, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/20/2026, cites allegations of corruption and abuse of office against Malami, who served from 2015 to 2023. The commission claims that Malami's earnings during his tenure, totaling ₦89,664,000, do not align with the value of the properties acquired.

The properties, which include assets in Abuja, Kebbi, Kano, and Kaduna, are suspected to have been obtained through unlawful means. A hearing for the motion has been scheduled for April 21, 2026.
