Court Orders Final Forfeiture of N400m Linked to Fraud

On a recent ruling, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja granted a final forfeiture order for N400 million linked to Mikail Abdulraheem, following a motion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) led by Abba Muhammed. The court's decision comes after an earlier interim forfeiture order issued on December 31, 2025, which was published in national newspapers in January 2026, inviting interested parties to contest the action.

The EFCC argued that the funds were linked to advance fee fraud and other related offenses under the Fraud Related Offences Act of 2006. Investigations revealed that the funds were associated with luxurious properties, including a six-bedroom mansion in Wuse II, Abuja, valued at N400 million, and linked to Abdulraheem's company, Aeronaut Engineering Technical Services Limited (AETSL).

The court's ruling marks a significant step in the EFCC's ongoing efforts to recover assets suspected to be proceeds of corruption.
