Court Orders New Investigation into Mohbad's Death

On Wednesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice James Omotosho, approved a request for a fresh legal investigation into the death of popular singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad. The application was filed by the Break Silence Foundation, a civil society group, seeking to compel the police to reopen the investigation into Mohbad's death, which occurred in Lagos in September 2023.

The court's ruling permits the organization to proceed with its case against the Inspector General of Police, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Lagos State Police Command. The court emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, including questioning individuals last seen with the singer, such as his wife and close associates.

The ruling also allows for the potential arrest and prosecution of anyone found connected to the death, should evidence support such actions. The case is adjourned until May 4 for further hearings.
