Coalition for Justice Petitions Police Over Cyberbullying

The Coalition for Justice has formally petitioned the Nigerian police to investigate alleged cyberbullying incidents targeting its members, which began after the death of Nigerian artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, in September 2023. During a press briefing in Lagos, spokesperson Kayod Adebiyi condemned the online harassment, which reportedly involved a Germany-based TikTok user known as Comfi, who allegedly used social media to intimidate coalition members.

The coalition claims that the harassment has caused emotional distress and reputational harm. Adebiyi emphasized the need for a formal investigation and collaboration with international authorities, including Interpol, to preserve digital evidence.

Legal representative Emmanuel Orok has submitted the petition to the Inspector General of Police, expressing optimism for prompt action. The coalition highlighted that the alleged actions violate several Nigerian laws, including the Cybercrime Act of 2015 and the Child Rights Act.

They are urging both Nigerian and German authorities to take action against the alleged perpetrator.
