Court Orders Police to Reinvestigate Mohbad's Death

On Wednesday, a Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Jame Omotosho, granted a motion compelling the Inspector General of Police to reopen the investigation into the death of singer Mohbad, who died in September 2023. The motion was filed by Chief Tund Falola on behalf of the Regist Trustee Break Silence Foundation, which argued that the initial police investigation was incomplete.

The court authorized the police to arrest and prosecute anyone found culpable in connection with Mohbad's death. It also permitted the inclusion of individuals such as Mohbad's wife, Omowumi Cynthia Aloba, and his father, Joseph Aloba, in the investigation process.

The foundation's chairman, Lukmon Fabiyi, emphasized the need for justice and transparency, citing public protests questioning the circumstances surrounding Mohbad's death. The case has been adjourned to May 4 for further hearing.
