Court Grants El-Rufai Access to Medical Treatment

On May 6, 2026, the Federal High Court in Kaduna directed the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to permit former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai to access medical treatment at a facility of his choice. This ruling followed a plea from El-Rufai's defense counsel, who requested access to medical care, specifically for dental and eye treatment.

The court mandated that El-Rufai's movement to the medical facility, which includes Mile Dental Clinic and Skipper Eye Hospital in Abuja, be under strict supervision by the ICPC. El-Rufai is currently facing ten counts of charges filed by the ICPC, which include allegations of possession of proceeds from corrupt activities and money laundering, contrary to the Money Laundering Prevention and Prohibition Act of 2022.

He has pleaded not guilty to these charges. Previously, the court had granted him bail in the sum of 200 million Naira with two sureties.
