ICPC Denies El-Rufai Medical Care, Family Alleges Rights Violation

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai's aide has stated that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is denying the former governor access to medical care. El-Rufai, who has visible health issues, was reportedly denied a hospital visit on June 4, 2023, despite his condition worsening.

His family expressed alarm over the situation, claiming that ICPC officials failed to relay accurate information regarding his health and obstructed medical attention. They allege that no medical arrangements were made, and ICPC personnel falsely informed family members that El-Rufai did not wish to see a doctor.

Furthermore, the family criticized the ICPC for violating El-Rufai's rights, despite a court order allowing him access to medical treatment. Earlier in May, they accused the ICPC of denying him food deliveries as well.

The situation has raised significant concerns regarding the treatment of individuals in custody and adherence to human rights standards.
