Court Orders Arrest of INEC Chairman Yakubu for Contempt in Osun State

A Federal High Court in Osogbo, Osun State, has ordered the Inspector General of Police to arrest Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of INEC, for alleged contempt of court. The court directed the police to apprehend Yakubu over the commission's failure to comply with a ruling favoring the Action Alliance party.

The ruling stemmed from a case where INEC was accused of disobeying a valid judgment related to recognizing a state chairman elected by the party. The court imposed a fine on INEC and warned of Yakubu's immediate arrest if the directive is not followed within seven days.
