Court Orders NMA to Assess Nnamdi Kanu's Health Amid Legal Battle

The Federal High Court in Abuja has directed the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) to form a team of medical experts to assess the health condition of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Kanu, facing charges of treason and terrorism, has been in detention since June 2021.

The court's ruling follows a motion by Kanu's counsel, seeking urgent medical attention for his deteriorating health. The NMA team, including specialists like cardiologists and neurologists, will visit the Department of State Services (DSS) facility where Kanu is held to confirm his health status.
