Court Affirms Madaki as ADC Candidate for Jalingo Constituency

On Wednesday, the Federal High Court in Jalingo, Taraba State, delivered a judgment in suit no FHC/CS/23/2026, affirming Umar Suleiman Madaki as the rightful candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming elections for the Jalingo state constituency. Justice Mashkur Salisu ruled that despite Madaki emerging as the winner of the ADC primary elections, he was initially denied the party's ticket.

The court found the nomination of Shamsuddeen Inuwa Muhammad as unlawful and unconstitutional, declaring it to have no legal effect. Consequently, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately recognize and publish Madaki's name as the duly nominated candidate.

Barrister Milkman Karel, representing Madaki, described the verdict as a victory for due process and internal party democracy, reaffirming the judiciary's commitment to ensuring political parties adhere to constitutional provisions in conducting primary elections.
