Court Rejects Documents Citing Tinubu's Past Criticism in Sowore Cybercrime Trial

In the ongoing trial of activist Omoyele Sowore on cybercrime charges, the Federal High Court in Abuja rejected documents presented by the defense team that referenced past criticisms of President Bola Tinubu. The documents contained derogatory statements allegedly made by Tinubu against former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo.

The trial judge, Justice Moham Umar, ruled the documents irrelevant and inadmissible, emphasizing that they did not contribute to the defense's case. The defense argued that the documents aimed to demonstrate inconsistencies in Tinubu's public stance on corruption to support Sowore's defense.

However, the judge upheld the prosecution's objection, limiting the scope of the defense's argument. The trial was adjourned until March 5, 2026, for further proceedings.
